The Black Chronicles is, in part, inspired from public and private photograph collections that have been organised and overseen by a UK-based archived programme whose quest it is to critically examine, investigate and promote the dissemination of rare photographs portraying people of African, Caribbean, and South Asian descent during the Victorian Era and early 20th century. The programme hopes to “highlight questions of race, representation, human rights and justice”. With my artistic transformation of a selection of images, I humbly invite you to revisit, reflect and perhaps revise your understanding of rendition, human rights and justice. Coming in August 2024!
